Marikay McSpadden Baxter, 63, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Jim Clark, long-time family friend officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Marikay McSpadden Baxter was born November 18, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas to Cecil and Marguerite McSpadden. She was the third child of six children. She went to school in Dimmitt and Stratford and excelled in band and home economics. She worked as a dental assistant in Portales, NM for many years and later moved to Kansas City, MO. and became an assistant to an oral surgeon. While in Kansas City she met and married Michael Kelly and they had a son, Christopher Michael. She loved watching him grow and he was the love of her life. Years later she was a medication aide at a rest home and she loved the residents like they were her family. Marikay was a member of the Church of Christ and was a very loving and kindhearted person.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Jane Riley.
Survivors include; her son, Christopher Kelly of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Amy Gililland of Amarillo, Cecelia Fuller and husband, H.S of Hereford, Debra O’Neal and husband Cecil of Hodgen, Okla; brother, John McSpadden and wife, Sandra of Dumas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761 or to a favorite charity.
The family will be at 111 Armstrong in Dumas.
