A.B. Carnes Jr. 81 passed away Sunday, September 16, 2007 in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas, with Dr. Mark Scott, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Flag detail by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Mr. Carnes was born October 26, 1925 in Hedley, Texas. He served in the US Marine Corp. from 1943 to 1945. In 1956 he married Mary McCann in Elko, Nevada. He was a welder and had worked for Dodson Welding in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his son, Blaine Carnes, sister, Connie Maxwell and brother, Leonard Carnes. Survivors include: his wife Mary of Amarillo; six daughters, Glenda Ray Lekey of Kimberly, ID, Annita Ostler and Connie Loper both of Gooding, ID, Leslie Joe Martin of Alabama, Lori Miles of Amarillo, Sonya Anderson of Dallas; two sisters, Peggy Hill of Amarillo, Millie Miller of San Antonio; three brothers, Ron Carnes and Jimmy Carnes both of Amarillo, and Terry Don Carnes of University City, WA.
