A.B. Buddy Huseman, 87 of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church with Father Maria Joseph Pudhota as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Jim Clements. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Buddy was born on August 6, 1925 to Frank and Kathryn Litsch Huseman in Nazareth, Texas. He joined the Army on November 9, 1944, and served as a Rifleman M1 Marksman in World War II until his honorable discharge on August 11, 1945. Buddy returned home to farm in Nazareth and later moved to Amarillo where he was a taxi cab driver there and in Dumas. Many of his longtime friends still fondly call him Taxi. Buddy married Dixie Pearl Davis on July 14, 1950, and they had one daughter, Ineze Marlene. They were faithful members of Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church of Dumas. Buddy was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1957, Buddy was part of a major accident in Dumas, Texas while working on a construction crew building the grain elevators west of town. He and two others fell 110 when a pin broke on the cable that was lowering them in a bucket to the ground for lunch. He sustained injuries that doctors believed would leave him crippled. Determined to walk again, Buddy went on to farm for himself and others in Moore County. After losing his beloved wife, Dixie Pearl, he retired in 1984. On July 20, 1989, Buddy married Dorothy Fitzpatrick and moved to Amarillo to enjoy retirement and traveling. They hosted many family gatherings and loved being close to grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Huseman, Dennis Huseman, Julian Huseman, Albert Huseman, and Urban Huseman sisters, Florence Merrill, Corine Dulsky, Sister Generose, and Lucille Kemper and grandson, Joshua Blayne Lewis. Buddy is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home daughters, Ineze Paul Jenkins of Dumas, and Ann McQueen, and Karen McCarl, both of Amarillo sons, Don Fitzpatrick of Amarillo and Kenneth Fitzpatrick of Quanah grandchildren, Casey Torisk, Valerie Barnett, Amy Walther, Judith Pollard, Angela Vasquez, Kristy Verboski, Darrell Moore and Travis Moore brothers, Louis Gin Huseman, and Alphonse Patsy Huseman of Nazareth 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the Veterans Administration, Community Living Center, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106. The family will be at 10846 FM 2589 in Dumas.
