Abelardo Cano, 81 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. A Prayer Service will be held at 6 oclock in the evening on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Templo Elim Asamblea de Dios. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Friday, November 13, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Rev. J.R. Cano, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Abelardo was born on August 20, 1939 in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Silverio and Julia (Silva) Cano. He married Maria Mendoza on November 22, 1963 in Mexico; she preceded him death on May 11, 1996. Several years later he was united in marriage to Esperanza. Abelardo moved to Dumas in 1973 where he worked as a ranch hand until his retirement. He also worked for Moore County from 1998 until 2013. He loved to fish and was an avid sports fan of baseball and boxing.
Abelardo was a hardworking, good man with a strong faith in God. He was a member of Templo Elim Asamblea de Dios. Abelardo loved attending church and worship. His greatest love in his life was his family; he was an extremely devoted father and grandfather. Attending his familys events brought him great joy. Abelardo will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
In addition to his first wife, Maria, he was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Lilia Tena.
Abelardo is survived by his wife, Esperanza of the home; son: J.R. Cano and wife Melissa of Wenatchee, WA; daughters: Lili Cano and Gloria Chairez and husband Sal all of Dumas, TX, stepchildren: Sandra Chairez of Dumas, TX, Enrique Esquivel, Romelia Esquivel, and Esther Espinoza of Dumas, TX; brothers: Eleazar Cano and Eliseo Cano; sister: Ernestina Arreola; grandchildren: Adrian Carreo, Jaime Carreo, Ezra Chairez, Maria Carreo, Darian Chairez, Ethan Cano, Charlie Cano; and 3 great-grandchildren.
