A.D. Conner, 97, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 8, 2010 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dick Gravley, pastor of First Baptist Church of Claude officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors.
A.D. Conner was born February 11, 1912 in Paducah, Texas to Lee and Sally Conner. During WW II he manned guns on the west coast for Douglas Aircraft. On November 7, 1992 he married his wife Ella Jean in Amarillo. He was a mechanic for Phillips Petroleum in Borger for 25 years before his retirement. He loved fishing, horses, being a cowboy, horse trading and life in general. He was always doing the things he loved or talking about doing them. He never met a stranger and made many friends during his travels after retirement. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He had been a resident of Dumas from the 1940s and was member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, thirteen brothers and sisters and his first wife Molene Conner.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Jean of the home daughter, Mary Kay Russell of Woodward, Okla grandsons, Joshua Mitchell of Woodward and Jeremy Mitchell of Weatherford, Okla stepsons, Marvin Stagner, Roy Stagner Steve Stagner all of Amarillo, Kenny Stagner of Keller stepdaughter, Mary Moore of Shepard, Mont nephews, Theodore Conner of San Angelo, Alvie Foreman of Reno, Nev nieces, Verita Nunez and Catherine Wentker both of Amarillo 4 great grandchildren and numerous stepgrandchildren and great stepgrandchildren.
