Ada Mae Stone, 87 of Sunray, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Lane Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Seth Seale, pastor of Bible Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the evening on Friday at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Sunray.
Ada was born on August 27, 1934, in Dawson County, TX to Russell and Nora "Babe" Ellen (Parrish) Davis. She married Bill Stone on March 12, 1954, in Lubbock, TX; he preceded her in death in 2020. The couple lived around Ackerly for a bit before moving to Sunray in 1965 where they raised their family and made their home. Ada and Bill were very proud of the life they made together and how they worked together. Ada was an excellent homemaker, cook and helped Bill with every aspect of running the farm including driving a truck during harvest.
Ada was an avid sports fan who loved the Cowboys and the Spurs. However, her greatest team that she supported was the one that her kids and grandkids were a part of, she never missed an event. Ada was an excellent quilter and seamstress and made many of her children’s clothes when they were younger. She also enjoyed painting and was a member of the China Painting Club. Ada was a precious woman who had a deep and abiding love for God and was very devoted to her church. Above all her family was the most important thing to her. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
In addition to her beloved husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by grandson: Tyler Stone; granddaughter: Amber Keasler; sisters: Louise Fulton and Betty Mills; brother: Jimmy Russell Davis
Ada is survived by her children: Casey Stone and wife Thelma of Sunray, TX, Kelly Fisk of Texhoma, OK, Jody Stone and wife Brenda of Sunray, TX, Melissa Rice and husband Ronnie of La Vernia, TX; sister-in-law: Cathy Davis; 8 grandchildren and spouses and 19 great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “Granny Ada”.
The Stone family would like to express their gratitude to Bill and Ada’s caregivers: Reina Herrera, Hope Flores, Maria Solano, and Josie Quintana for the exceptional care they provided to their parents over the years. Additionally, the family would like to thank Patsy Casanova, Caleb McCutchan and Katie Johnson at Memorial Hospice for their care and compassion.
The family requests, with gratitude, memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 Est 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029 or Bible Baptist Church, PO Box 570, Sunray, TX 79086.
