Alberta Holt, 96 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Kevin Anderson, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Damon Akins, Rev. Jon Watson and Rev. Billy Nickell. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Alberta was born on December 15, 1919 in Sycamore KS to John Franklin and Oda Grace (Thomas) Nelson. On May 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rev. William Russell Holt in Cherryvale. They were married for 52 years until his passing in 1990. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1941.
Alberta loved to crochet. She crocheted many dolls including a Martha Washington Doll. She also made over 100 throws that she gave to many church members and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, but above all she loved the Lord. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Dumas.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 12 brothers and sisters; a son William 'Bill' Holt; a great grandson Josiah Watson; daughter in law Linda Holt; and son in law J.W. Stevens.
She is survived by her daughters: Sue Stevens, Dee Ward and husband DeWayne, and Ruth Russell and husband Dwight, all of Amarillo; sons: John Holt and wife Brenda of Claude, Sid Holt, Gary Holt and wife Vickie and Clark Holt and wife Linzi, all of Dumas; brother Norman Nelson and wife Gwen of Cherryvale, KS; 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
