Alice Fayrene (White) McDade, 93 of Dumas, Texas passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. She passed away in her earthly home with family by her side as she went to her heavenly home to rejoice with Jesus. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at First Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Allen, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Alice was born on July 2, 1931, to Everett and Laura (Brown) White. She was united in marriage to J.L. (Joe) McDade on May 25, 1949, in Mosquero, NM; he preceded her in death in 2005. Alice, a beloved homemaker and the queen of a perfectly burnt roast, took great pride in her cooking specialty, assuring us all that the roast wasn’t really burnt—it was just "extra golden." A bridge enthusiast, Alice was always up for a good game. Whether winning or losing, it was the fellowship that kept her coming back to the table, and she was a master at turning any hand into a reason to laugh. But above all else, Alice never turned down a crisp Coca-Cola. It was her signature drink, whether she was sewing, painting, or playing cards, you could be sure a cold Coke wasn’t far from her hand. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; siblings: Christine Loftburg, Dorothy Gilliam , Dale White, and Patsy Ohlen; sons-in-law: Jim Cherry, Sr., Don Fruits, Bob Hamer and Bill Houston. grandsons : Jim Cherry, Jr.; great-grandsons: Carson and Clayton Houston; great great grandson: John Simon Bentzinger.
Alice is survived by her children: Sue Cardinal and husband Lonnie of Hereford, TX, Mary Ann Fruits of Albuquerque, NM, Sidney Eve and husband James of Winchester, KY, Linda Houston of Grapeland, TX, Jody McDade and wife Lidia of Watonga, OK, and Kym Roberts and husband Gary of Dumas, TX; sister: Betty Richardson of Neosho, MO; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren.
The family requests, with gratitude, memorials be made to Dumas Fire Department, 106 N Bliss, Dumas, TX 79029.
