Alice Jean Widener

Alice Jean Widener, 85 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Grace Thru Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor Johnny Widener, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Alice was born on March 21, 1939, in Dumas, TX to Melvin and Mabel (Fuson) Richey. She grew up in Dumas and graduated from Dumas High School in 1957. She married Dale Widener on March 6, 1960, in Dumas where they made their home and raised their two boys. Alice worked at Continental Telephone, but her greatest job was taking pride in raising her two boys. She was also very involved in her grandchildren’s life and never missed an opportunity to be with them or take them to the cabin in Angel Fire. She was also very crafty and enjoyed going to several craft shows around the country selling the crafts that her and Dale made together. Alice was a people person and in her later years even brought joy to all the nurses and fellow residents at Memorial Nursing and Rehab. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Dale she was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter: Abby; brothers: Hardy Richey and Melvin Richey.

Alice is survived by her sons: Jeff Widener and wife Dora of Amarillo, TX and Johnny Widener and wife Stacy of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Rachel Widener, Justin Widener and Kristina, Becky Widener and Stephen, Jonathan Widener, Gabe Widener and Liv, Hannah Lewis and husband Austin.
