Al McNeely, 59, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of the church officiating. He will be assisted by C. Scott Curry, pastor of First Baptist Church in Gruver. Mr. McNeely will lie in state at Morrison Funeral Directors on Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. There will be visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Dentonwood Funeral Home in Carlsbad, NM on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery with a 2:00 P.M. graveside service. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Al was born on September 11, 1951 in Carlsbad, NM to A.D. and Vione McNeely. He graduated from Eagle Mountain High School in Eagle Mountain, CA and received a Certificate of Management from Frank Phillips College. He was employed with Xcel Energy for 35 years and had been a resident of Dumas for 8 years. He married Debra Dorsett on Jun 12, 1987 in Perryton, TX.
Al was President of Kiwanis in Canadian, TX, President of Lions Club in Gruver, and President of the Gruver Chamber of Commerce. He was also a certified fire fighter and instructor. His hobbies included golf and fishing, and he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas.
Survivors include: parents, A.D. Vione McNeely of Las Cruces, NM wife, Debra of the home sons, Warren McNeely of Los Angeles, CA and Mike Blackshear and wife Kristin of Perryton daughter Shelly Spears of Amarillo sister, Jackie Trotter of Houston brother, Rellmon McNeely and wife Jutta of Las Cruces, NM grandchildren, Aiden and Taygen McNeely of Los Angeles, CA, Derek and Abbie Spears of Amarillo, and Jaxon and Britt Blackshear of Perryton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend their thanks to all of the health care workers and therapists connected with Memorial Hospital in Dumas and Baptist St. Anthonys NWTH in Amarillo for the excellent care Al received over the past fifteen months.
The family suggests memorials be to Calvary Baptist Church, Bus Fund, P. O. Box 633, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at 511 Melinda Lane in Dumas.
