Amada Rosa Saavedra, 82, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010. Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 1, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 2, at the church with Fr. Juan Carlos Barragan, pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Amada Rosa was born April 15, 1928 in Colchague, Chile to Belisario and Natividad Saavedra. On September 18, 1964 she married Gerardo Saavedra in Chile. He preceded her in death January 24, 1982. She worked 18 years at Swift Co. in the fabrication department before her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She came to the United States in 1976 and had been a resident of Dumas for 33 years. Amada Rosa was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Ladies of Guadalupanas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: daughter, Cristina Mantle and husband, Brad of Dalhart son Antonio Saavedra of Atlanta, GA numerous other family members special friends, Carmen Tarango, Rosa Castillo, Elsa Trejo and Claudia Crunelle all of Dumas and Connie Kornegay and Yolanda Vasquez of Amarillo.
The family will be at 209 Peach in Dumas.
