Amelia Galan, 70 of Dumas formerly of Hereford, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Amelia was born on May 25, 1945 to Antonio and Felipa (Reyes) Galan in Big Spring, TX. She was an excellent cook and loved to sew; she was a seamstress for the Dumas Fire Department. Amelia also enjoyed yard work and was known for having a green thumb. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and an excellent mother and grandmother. Amelia will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents; her husband: Steve Chavez; son: Steve Chavez, Jr.; and nine brothers and sisters.
Amelia is survived by two daughters: Anita Mungia of Amarillo and Cindy Perez and husband Mike of Hereford; son: Ralph Chavez of Dumas; one sister: Salome of Indiana; brother: Juan of Littlefield; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and special friend: Larry Dutcher.
