Anita B. Saenz

Anita B. Saenz, 90 formerly of Sunray passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. The Funeral Service is scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Deacon Wayne Norrell, officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7 o'clock in the evening on Friday at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Anita was born on December 13, 1927 in Ranger, TX to Pedro and Maria (Cruz) Berru. She was united in marriage to Gustavo Saenz; he preceded her in death. She married Savino Vasquez, who also precedes her. She moved to Sunray in 1963 where she and Gustavo made their home and raised their family. Anita worked as a roguer for many years who employed many high school students so they would have school money. Anita also worked at Judy's Caf in Sunray for 15 years. She loved to help everyone and was known all over Sunray for her old fashioned tamales, as well as being known as the town babysitter.. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Sunray. Anita loved her family and especially enjoyed cooking for them. She will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents: sons: Amador, Pete, Joe, and Lucas; and grandson: Sammy Lee Bonner ; and granddaughter: Elizabeth Ruiz. Anita is survived by her children: Alicia Saenz of McAllen, Gustavo Saenz, Jr. of Sparksburgh, SC, Grace Rios of Odessa, Silvia Garza of Stratford, and MaryLou Saenz of Dallas; and Steve Saenz of Odessa; 28 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
