Antonio "Coach" Murga, 46 of Dumas, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020. The funeral service will be held at 11 oclock in the morning on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Sunray Church of Christ with Jonathan Zerby officiating. Interment will follow in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 6 oclock until 8 oclock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home in Dumas.
Coach Murga was born on June 28, 1974 in Juarez, Mexico to Antonio Murga Sr. and Maria Luisa Murga. At the age of 10, the family moved to Dumas where he grew up and graduated from Dumas High School in 1993 where he wrestled and played football. He continued his education and football career at Northwestern Oklahoma University where he received his teaching degree. After college, he started his career in coaching and making a difference in kids lives. He coached for a total of 22 years at Alva, Guymon, Bowie Middle School, Pampa, Borger and Dumas. Coach Murga loved his family and his extended football family. Through his fight with cancer, he showed people how to persevere and how to fight the good fight. He continued to show an extraordinary amount of commitment to his team and players by coaching even during his treatments. Coach Murga also enjoyed fishing but his greatest love was watching his boys, Andrew and Aaron, in their athletics. He was united in marriage to Alma in 2003 in Dumas and was a member of the Sunray Church of Christ.
Coach Murga was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Luisa Murga.
Coach Murga is survived by his wife, Alma of the home; sons: Andrew Murga of Amarillo, TX and Aaron Murga of the home; father: Antonio Murga Sr. of Dumas, TX; brothers: Oscar Murga and wife Lacey of Lubbock, TX and Pedro Murga and wife Brandi of Borger, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and extended football family members.
