Arthur Wayne Cartrite

Arthur Wayne Cartrite, 88, of Sunray, passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 3 oclock in the afternoon on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Lane Memorial Cemetery with Wayne Norrell, family friend, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Wayne was born March 18, 1931 in Sherman County to Julius Arthur and Ruby (Dortch) Cartrite. After graduating high school, he attended WTAMU where he met Carolyn Williams and married her on August 11, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. They were married for 67 years before she preceded him in death on May 27, 2019. Wayne proudly served his country in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. After service he returned to Sherman County and spent the rest of his life devoted to farming and ranching. Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two sons: Arthur Wayne and James Kirk. Wayne is survived by his children: Vicki Bowling and husband Greg of Canadian, TX and Dalton Cartrite and wife Robin of Sunray, TX; grandchildren: Michael Cartrite, Lexie Brewton, Stephanie Voelker, Tanner Cartrite and Tatum Cartrite; brother: Johnny Cartrite and wife Joy of Waxahachie, TX; sister: Elva Richards of Amarillo, TX; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
