Avalene L. Sullivan, 82 of Dumas passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 9th and Bliss Church of Christ with Steve Fuston, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm on both days at the funeral home. Arrangements are to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Avalene was born on June 26, 1935, in Sulphur OK to John and Oma (Hunter) Dirickson. She married Bob Sullivan on May 30, 1952 in Durant, OK, the couple would move to Dumas in 1953 where they would establish their home and raise their family. Avalene loved crafts, knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed camping and being outdoors. However, her main love was her grandchildren, she could always be found at their various events cheering them on. She absolutely adored them. Avalene also had a true servants heart, she always put others first. She was a member of the 9th and Bliss Church of Christ and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Karen; and great-grandson: Cooper.
Avalene is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bob of the home; children: Randy Sullivan and wife Debbie of Liberty, TX, Kerry Sullivan of Dumas, TX, Rhonda Sullivan of Dumas, TX, Brent Sullivan and wife Angela of Bedford, TX; grandchildren: Jeremy Sullivan and wife Pam of Dumas, TX, Chastity Sullivan of Canyon, TX, Suzie Sims of Meridian, ID, Justin Sullivan and wife Amber of Dumas, TX, Jake Sullivan of Liberty, TX, Joshua Sullivan and wife Heather of Navarre, FL, Jared Sullivan and wife Stassi of Bushland, TX, Lexi King of Midland, TX, Jordan Genn and wife Suni of Wildorado, TX, Emory Sullivan of Seattle, WA, Sarah Grant and husband Matt of Lakeland, FL, Joel Sullivan and wife Chandler of Auburn, AL; sister: Trudy Williams and husband Gene of Claremore, OK; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.
