Barbara Sue Hughes

Barbara Sue Hughes, 83, died peacefully on October 15, 2017 at the Crown Point Health Suites in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Morrison Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Darrell Wait, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Barbara was born September 19, 1934, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Sherman Absher and Mary Gomez. On December 24, 1956, Barbara married the love of her life, Donald D Hughes. Barbara and Don were longtime residents of Dumas, Texas and were members of the Temple Baptist Church prior to her moving to Lubbock, Texas in 2012. She loved reading and playing card games during family gatherings. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Donald, mother Mary and father Sherman. Barbara is survived by one son, Terry and wife Cathy Hughes of The Woodlands, TX, one sister, Shelia and husband Steve Curtis of Lubbock, TX, three grandsons, Coby and wife Angie Duffer of Keller, TX, Drew Duffer of Sherman, TX, Chase and wife Keely Potter of Canyon, TX, seven great grandchildren, Cayman Duffer, Lyla Duffer, Emory Duffer, Mabry Duffer, Brightan Potter, Brayson Potter, Broxon Potter, three nephews; and a number of other relatives and close friends.
