Ben Estep Jr., 89 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 oclock in the morning on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 oclock until 8 oclock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ben was born on May 30, 1929 in El Reno, Ok to Benjamin Sr. and Lucy (Leckie) Estep. He was united in marriage to Hazel Short on June 4, 1947 in Durant, Oklahoma. They shared their life together in the Dumas community for forty-six years. Ben was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas.
Ben had a love for the land which was evident in the fact that he farmed for over 37 years. During his career he farmed for the Garth family, the Mortons, the Stringers, the Shields and the Higleys. Ben was also known for his gently demeanor and was very kind.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel in 2012; son, Danny Estep in 1953; brothers: Johnnie Estep in 2003 and Dewayne Estep in 1998; sister, Hazel Creek in 2008 and grandson, Chad Green in 1982.
Ben is survived by his two daughters, Linda Collins and husband Richard and Laurie Green and husband Sweetie, all of Dumas; two sons: Rick Estep of Amarillo and Lonnie Estep of Fritch; nine grandchildren, Cindy Hall. Traci McKee, Kristopher Estep, Jason Estep and wife Josie, Rian Estep, Brandon Green and wife Jessica, Bud Estep, Brittney Studer and husband Colby and Raelee Nivens and husband Colt; brother: Delbert "Jack" Estep and wife Virginia; fifteen greatgrandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and best friend Leon Hulsey.
The family will be at 207 Bailey.
The family suggests memorials be made to the donor's charity of choice and be left with the funeral home.
