Bernice Scott, 80 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Benny Craft, pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Mesquite will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Bernice was born on June 30, 1932 in Denison, TX to Vernon and Ethel Higgins. She had been a Dumas resident since 1955 and married Don Scott on January 7, 1956 in Clayton, NM, who preceded her in death. Bernice enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and working on crafts and ceramics. She always liked to take care of her girls and made sure they had nothing to worry about. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Bernice was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents Vernon and Ethel Higgins, one sister, and three brothers.
Bernice is survived by two daughters Shirley and husband Clyde Harvey of Dumas, and Cathy and husband Benny Craft of Dallas, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and six greatgreat grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell, Amarillo, TX 79109.
The family will be at 802 Klein in Dumas.
