Betty Merle Baker Carter

Betty Merle Baker Carter of Stratford, Texas died on August 19, 2022.

Betty was born on April 14, 1935, in Dalhart, Texas. She attended Hedley High School before marrying T.J. Carter on June 8, 1950.

She is survived by two sons: Tommy Carter (and wife Cyndy Carter) and Neal Carter (and husband Erwin DeBord); two grandchildren: Teresa Carter (and spouse Willow Everlong) and Christian Carter; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband T.J. Carter, and daughter Katharine Carter.

Betty spent most of her life as a homemaker but also worked many years at the Ranger Motel in Stratford. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, especially in her later years with the Crochet and Painting Angels in Stratford. She also loved and looked forward to getting together with all her extended family at the annual Carter Family Reunion, attending every year since it began in 1983.

Visitation will be Monday, August 22, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Home in Stratford. Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Redden Cemetery in Redden, Oklahoma.
