Betty Jo Hatfield, 89, formerly of Dumas, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 8 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating. Entombment will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 9, at Wichita Park Mausoleum, 2500 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Betty was born December 27, 1920 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Lewis and Geneieve Pierce. On February 23, 1937 she married Charles Beryl Hatfield. He preceded her in death July 5, 2004. In 1998 she received the Joyce Dillow Heritage Award for her many hours as a volunteer at the museum. She helped teach ceramic classes at First Presbyterian Church for many years. She was a longtime Dumas resident before moving to Fritch in 2007. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dumas.
Survivors include daughters, Saundra Wait of Dumas, Nancy Orr and husband, Bill of Derby, KS, Ruth Rogers of Wichita, KS, Jean Stephens and husband, Scott of Denver, Karen Miller of Denver and Jan Jarrett of Fritch sons, Charles Hatfield and wife, Pam of Wichita, KS, and Donald Hatfield of Denver12 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren brothers, Raymond Pierce of Wellington, KS, Bob Pierce of Mulvane KS sister, Jeannene Dodson of Sacramento, CA.
