Betty McBee

October 23, 1925 — April 1, 2015

Betty Lindsey McBee, 89 of Dumas, passed away in her home surrounded by loving family and friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o\x92clock in the afternoon on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Betty was born on October 23, 1925 in Memphis, TX to Horace and Hucie Lindsey. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1943 and spent several years in Texas Tech University as well as nursing school in Houston. In 1958, she moved to Dumas with her family and in 1970, she left Dumas spending several years in Andrews, TX and Louisiana before moving to Lubbock. After 37 years in Lubbock, Betty eventually moved back to Dumas in 2011 to live with her daughter. Betty worked for Texas Instruments retiring from there after 20 years. She was an avid golfer and spent much of her time in community service. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and First Baptist Church in Lubbock. She also volunteered many years at UMC Hospital and Ronald McDonald House. After moving back to Dumas, she became a member of the Dumas Order of the Eastern Star. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Betty\x92s faith was very important to her and she raised her children in the church where she also taught Sunday school. Her warm smile, caring heart and devotion to others will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law: Mary Helen and Norman Heath; brother and sister-in-law: Eugene and Owen Lindsey and brother: Robert Lindsey. Betty is survived by sister-in-law: Doris Lindsey Flint of Dimmitt; son: David McBee and wife Marsha of Dallas; daughter: Arlisa Farrahan and husband Eugene of Dumas; grandchildren: Clay, Whitney, Casey, Natalie Cunningham all of Dumas, Morgan and Matt Ballard and Molly McBee all of Dallas, Scott and Meredith McBee of Midland; great-grandchildren: Tanner, Brittan, Alex and Blaine Cunningham, Grace and Clara Ballard and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. The family wishes to thank the many friends and primary caregivers, Lori Lucero, Martha Aguirre, Accolade Home Care, Memorial Hospice and Dr. Miguel Edilberto. The family suggests memorials be made to Accolade Home Care, 201 Binkley Ave, Dumas, TX 79029, or Memorial Hospice, 224 E 2nd, Dumas, TX 7929. The family will be at 311 Cedar.
