Billie June (Burkett) Brazell, 82 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Sunray Church of Christ with Jonathan Zerby, preacher of the church, officiating. Family visitation will be from 7 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home in Dumas. Interment will follow at Brown Memorial Cemetery in Sunray. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Billie June (Burkett) Brazell was born in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma on February 24, 1933 to Levi Calloway 'L.C.' and Lorene Burkett. Shortly after her birth, they moved to Borger, Texas and later to Sunray, Texas. She grew up in Sunray and attended Sunray schools. She was baptized at the Sunray Church of Christ in 1947. While living in Sunray she met her future husband, Troy Leabert Brazell. They were married September 18, 1948 in the Church of Christ in Sunray. She was a wife, mother and homemaker who was always involved in the Lord's work.
Billie is preceded in death my both of her parents and her husband.
She is survived by six children: Troy Leabert Brazell, Jr. and wife Brenda of Yukon, Oklahoma, Steve Brazell and wife Michelle of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Trudy Cullon and husband Benny of Stinnett, Texas, Joe Brazell and wife Bridgette of Royse City, Texas, Tony Brazell and wife Mary of Dumas, Texas and Melinda Brazell of Wimberley, Texas. She has 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Billie is also, survived by her twin sister, Betty Atkins, of Decatur, Texas, a sister, Dessie Gibbs of Dandridge, Tennessee, two brothers LC Burkett Jr. and Don Burkett both of Sunray, Texas, a sister, Patsy Allen, of Amarillo, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. And very special friends, Kenn and Sherrie Higdon of Dumas, Texas.
