Billie Overton, 83, went to be with her Lord on December 30, 2010. A private family graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Dumas with Rev. John Conley, pastor of the church officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Billie was born on August 24, 1927 in Depew, Oklahoma. She married Charlie Overton on December 20, 1945 in Borger, Texas. They moved to Dumas in 1953. Billie spent much of her time volunteering in such organizations as Hospice, Family Services, Community Chest, YMCA, American Cancer Society, Rose Lady, Reach to Recovery, March of Dimes, Christmas Sharing and Meals on Wheels. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. She recently received an award for being the oldest living cancer survivor in Moore County. Billie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and deacon. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, her mother, father, stepfather and 2 brothers.
Billie is survived by two daughters, Karen Owens and husband Jim of Dumas and Kriste Martindale and husband Bobby of Dumas. She had 4 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren, one great greatgrandchild, 2 brothers, and several nieces.
The family suggests memorials be to the Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, P O Box 1118, Dumas, TX 79029, Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029, or to a favorite charity.
The family will be at 501 and 506 Melinda in Dumas.
