Billie Marie Woody, 87 formerly from Dumas, passed away on February 1, 2018 in Plano, Texas. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Billie was born December 17, 1930 in Canyon, Texas to Bill Kilgore Money and Irma Elizabeth Hinkle Money. She graduated Canyon High School in 1948 and West Texas State College, now known as West Texas State A&M, in 1951 at the age of 20. Billie moved to Dumas after graduation to begin her teaching career as an English and Spanish teacher until she retired in 1977. Billie met Lonnie Woody, co-owner of Woody's Furniture in Dumas, and they married on September 21, 1952. They had 3 children. Billie was a member of First Baptist Church for 65 years. She was involved in Woman's Missionary Union Bible study, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and helped in the church food pantry. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary and taught ESL through Amarillo College for several years. Billie was the Veteran Service Officer for Moore County for 19 years. One of her favorite hobbies was genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Claude Money, her husband of sixty years, Lonnie Woody, and a son, Billie Lon Woody. Billie is survived by her two children Tom Woody and wife Donna of Clemmons, North Carolina and Gayle McMullan and husband Rick of Gunter, Texas and one grandchild, Matthew McMullan of Seattle, Washington, nephew Jim Woody and wife Judy of Carrollton, Texas and niece Tricia Anderson of Lubbock, Texas. Memorials may be sent to your favorite charity in memory of Billie.
