Billie Ned Dora Young, 85, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010. Services are scheduled for 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at First Christian Church in Dumas with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Billie was born on June 12, 1925 to Jack and Willie Mae McClary in Dumas. She graduated from Dumas High School in May 1942. On January 25, 1942, she married Franklin Earl Young in Dumas. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1984. She had been a resident of Dumas for her entire life. Billie was employed by the US Post Office, where she served as a mail carrier for 25 years. She ran the mail route from Dumas to Hartley back, which was about a 65 mile roundtrip each day. She also served as the bookkeeper for her family business. Her hobbies included duplicate bridge and other card games, sewing, and she was a collector of various things and loved art of all kinds. She bowled for forty years and enjoyed all sports. Billie was a member of the First Christian Church since May 1939, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the missionary society. Billie was preceded in death by her parents her husband Earl in 1984 one son, Sherman Jack Young in 1993 and three brothers, Robert McClary, Geary McClary and David McClary. Survivors include: one son, Danny Young and wife Sandy of Weatherford three grandchildren, Robbie Jo McCombs and husband Paul of Colorado Springs, CO, Kellie Crabb and husband Sherman of Keller, TX and Jodie Rae Moore and husband Dusty of Lane, OK four greatgrandchildren, Timothy McCombs, Jesse McCombs, Sydney Jo Moore and Gage Moore and two sisters, Mary M. Sharman of Amarillo and Jackie Brewster and husband Jim of Ft. Worth. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Christian Church, P. O. Box 971, Dumas, TX 79029 or to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 15186, Austin, TX, 78761. The family will be at 101 Chelsea in Dumas.
