Billy “Bill” J. Raney, 89 of Dalhart passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kurtis Abla, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Bill was born on February 5, 1934 in Lockney, TX to L.N. and Mary (Belyue) Raney. He served his country through the United State Air Force during the Korean War. Bill met and married Carolyn Turner, his best friend, love and lifelong partner of 67 years.
Bill was a retired restaurateur. He owned and operated restaurants in Friona, Dumas, and Dalhart Bill served on several boards throughout the community. Bill was a member of Board of Directors of Dallam-Hartley County Chamber of Commerce and Dalhart Country Club. He was a lifetime member of Moore County Chamber of Commerce and a member of Jaycee’s and Lions Club. Bill was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Dumas Masonic Lodge #1009.
He enjoyed cooking, RV traveling and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, especially football. His greatest joy was delivered from the joy and love of his family and friends. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Nolan Ray; sister: Mary Etta Skinner.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn of the home; two sons of Dalhart: Steven Raney (Vickie), Michael Raney (Carren): 6 grandchildren: Shawna Bucher (Wesley), Robynne Anderson, Joshua Raney, Cara Ann Raney, Jon Raney (Carla), Adam Raney (Katie); 7 great-grandchildren: Waylon Bucher, Carter Anderson, Addi Klarie Anderson, Cheyenne Raney, Samuel Raney, Bregan Raney, Calab Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, with gratitude, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 1000 E 16th St, Dalhart, TX, 79022 or favorite charity.
