Bobby Wayne “Boots” Barker, 78 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 11 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Northlawn Memorial Gardens followed by a Memorial Service at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Price, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Bobby was born on November 19, 1943, to Herschel and Irma (Tisdale) Barker in Littlefield, TX. He grew up in Littlefield and graduated from Littlefield High School. After high school, Bobby enrolled and later graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics and was also a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Bobby married Janice Burks on June 2, 1967 in Littlefield, TX. Bobby went to work for the Soil Conservation District in Hereford. He later worked for the Amarillo Production Credit in Amarillo and Dumas, the Texas American Bank in Amarillo and eventually owned and operated the Dumas Implement in Dumas until retirement. Bobby was very civic minded and served on several community boards including: The Happy State Bank Board, the YMCA Board as president and the Dumas Economic Development Board as president. He was also very active in the Lions Club where he was a member in Hereford, Amarillo and Dumas. Bobby served Moore County as a county commissioner for two terms. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Janice Anderson.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife: Janice of the home; daughter: Stephanie Crownover and her sons: Cole Crownover and Connor Crownover; son: Bradley Barker and wife M’liss and their children: Calvin Barker and wife Sydney, Ana Belle Barker, Benjamin Barker, Daisy Barker, Ella Barker.
