Bobby Ray Powell, 83, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor of Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart will be officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Bobby was born on January 8, 1928 in Sanderson, Texas to Whitnell Aldridge and Sara Lanore Powell. He served his country in the US Army, fighting in WWII, Okinawa and the Philippines. He was married to Norma Genevieve Amos. They shared their life in the surrounding high plains area. They moved to Amarillo in 1988. Bobby had been a resident there for twentytwo years. Bobby was employed at Diamond Shamrock prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
Bobby was a kind and loving person. He was a dedicated and beloved father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Genevieve Powell and one son, Whitwell Bobby Powell.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ginger Ann Ogle of Oklahoma City, OK and Peggy Sue Elliott of Hartley, TX eight grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren.
