Bonnie Ruth Richie, 79, of Dumas, died Monday, December 11, 2006, in Arlington, TX. Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 2:00 PM in First Baptist Church of Dumas with longtime family friends Stan Corbin, officiating and Claud Cooksey, assisting. Burial will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Richie was born September 7, 1927, in Haskell County, TX to Owen and Ellen Pyle Poss. On April 20, 1944, she married Deryl A. Richie in Amarillo and they moved to Dumas in 1955. She had been a Dumas resident for 51 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dumas and a faithful servant to God. She had taught Sunday School for 54 years and was still teaching at the time of her death. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she loved reading, crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with her precious family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Deryl A. Richie on June 6, 1998, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna Hudson of Arlington, TX and Judy Steele of Amarillo, TX; two sons: Jerry Richie and wife, Misty of Lubbock, TX and David Richie and wife, Steve Ann of Burleson, TX; two sisters: Ailene Davidson and husband, Bill of Virginia Beach, VA and Fay Schmidt of Amarillo, TX;
eight grandchildren: Shelley Holden of Arlington, TX, Jeffrey Hudson and wife, Angela of Highland Village, TX, Rodney Steele and wife, Christi and Jason Steele all of Amarillo, TX, Sarah Bush and husband, Brian of Leander, TX, Jeremy Richie and wife, Jennifer of Winters, TX, Jennifer Martinez and husband, David of Burleson, TX and Travis Tucker of Lubbock; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
