Brenda Rene Rachels

Brenda Rachels, 53 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday March 4, 2012. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Ray DeBord, Brendas Uncle will be officiating. Interment will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Brenda was born on October 8, 1958 in Dumas, Texas to Don McEntire and Joyce Green Campbell. She grew up in Sunray, and graduated from Sunray High School. She had been a resident of the Dumas community for the last ten years. She was united in marriage to Robert Dwayne Rachels on April 4, 1975 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. Together, they raised two children. Brenda was employed as Deputy Treasurer for Moore County. She worked at the County Treasurers office for the last six years. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Sunray. Brenda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, who was loved by everyone who knew her. She was very talented, and had many creative hobbies. She enjoyed sewing and other arts crafts projects. First and foremost in her life, Brenda was a Mom. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Don McEntire her mother, Joyce Campbell her sister, Sharon Weems and her grandparents, Opal and Nora Green. Brenda is survived by one son, Robert Scott Rachels and wife Holly of Amarillo one daughter, Jennifer Marie Rachels of the home one granddaughter, Shaylee Rachels of Clovis, NM two grandsons, Jaden Seth Rachels of the home, and Brecken Scott Rachels of Amarillo her second mother and aunt, Diana DeBord three sisters, Karon Seward and husband Larry of Menifee, CA, Cindy Bownds and husband Arlie, and Elizabeth Green and husband Randall, all of Dumas two brothers, Donnie McEntire and wife Cathy, and Curt McEntire and wife Sandra, all of Dumas her stepmother, Dot McEntire of Dumas and numerous other family members. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 403 Pear, Dumas, TX 79029 or Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 116 Carson in Dumas.
