Bully "Butch" Tate

Bully “Butch” Tate, 81 of Sunray passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Tate Myers Family Cemetery south of McLean. Butch will be available for viewing on Tuesday from 2 o’clock in the afternoon to 8 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home in Sunray. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Butch was born on September 19, 1943 in Shamrock, TX to Otis Lee and Stella (Butler) Tate. He grew up in the area and graduated from Samnorwood High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Bonner on May 16, 1975 in Wheeler, TX. He farmed and ranched until he moved to Sunray where he worked for an ariel spray service. Butch loved to travel and enjoyed fast cars, maybe even racing them from time to time. Butch was of Christian Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Butch is survived by his wife, Janie of the home; daughter: Kathy Tate of Austin, TX; sisters: Bonita Myers and husband Leon of Abra Community and Jackie Sanderson and husband Gary Don of Wellington, TX along with numerous other extended family members.
