She married her high school sweetheart on March 17, 1949, and moved to Gruver in 1958. While in Gruver, Caroline took great care of her children and her home. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church, volunteered with the youth, and was a member of the choir. Howard and Caroline moved to Dumas in 1981. She had quite a green thumb and everything she grew flourished. She loved God’s nature and loved taking care of His creation. They always had a large vegetable garden that they shared with the community. She loved flowers, most especially wildflowers. Quilting was one of her favorite hobbies from which she received several awards. She was also an incredible cook and made the most fabulous apple pie you’ve ever tasted. She yearly made over one hundred pies, giving many away to family and friends.

She will be missed but her legacy of love will continue. Caroline, you fought the good fight, you finished the race, well done. May we all live our lives as beautifully as you.
