Carolyn Hall Genn, 77 of Dumas, left to be with her Savior on Friday, March 3, 2017. She received a heavenly welcome by family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 in the morning on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Bible Baptist Church with Johnny Widener, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Carolyn was born in Pauls Valley, OK on August 20, 1939 to Jess and Myrl K. (Kniffin) Hall; she was one of 13 children. Carolyn married Joe Lee Genn, June 7, 1956 in Clovis, NM. They moved a lot when first married with Joe's job in road construction before settling in Amarillo, TX. She worked at Margaret Wills School in the cafeteria and did home babysitting when her husband became ill.
She then moved to Dumas, TX in December 1969 with her husband and 3 children. She worked at TG&Y and Walmart. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, canning, and crafting. Everyone loved her green beans and pickled beets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Genn; her parents, Jess and Myrl Hall; sisters, Claudette James, Norma Taylor, twin, Marolyn Tuter, Betty Davidson; infant, Jessie Fay Hall; brothers, Bobby Hall, Jessie Hall, Bill Hall, and great granddaughter, Lillie Breland and daughter in law Karen Sullivan Genn.
She is survived by daughters: Brenda Genn McClure of the home; Karen and husband Jimmy Lawler of Canadian, TX; son, Doyle Genn and wife Janis of Dumas; sisters: Helen and Jack Moore of Shawnee, OK, Margaret and Ronnie Tillman of Amarillo, Judy Boyett of Amarillo and Lynda and Jim Gaither of Porter, OK; grandchildren: Jason Genn and wife Michelle, Danny and wife Bonnie, Jordan and wife Suni, Alexis King, Dusty Breland, Jacob Breland, Travis and Amber Lawler, Jared and Amanda Lawler, Derek Wills and Allison Wills; great grandchildren: Ethan Genn, Jadan Price, Hayden Frische, Reagan and Kaden King, Maddee and Colton Genn, Zachary McClure, Trayce Webb, Jaxon Lawler, Lyla Lawler, Peyton and Cody Johnson, Cooper Lawler; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests with gratitude memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
