Cecil F. Venhaus, 75, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010. Cecil will lie in state at Morrison Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 26, 2010 starting at 1:00 P.M. Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at Morrison Memorial Chapel. The funeral mass will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church in Dumas with Father Arthur Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Cecil was born on November 1, 1935 in Umbarger, Texas to Albert and Marie Venhaus. He married Jean Jacobs in June, 1957 in Dumas. They have shared their life together in the Dumas community for 54 years. Cecil worked in the oil gas industry as a supervisor for Diamond Shamrock until his retirement. He was a veteran in the US Army, serving his country from 1954 to 1956. Cecil was a member of the VFW and the Quarterback Booster Club. He was named an Honorary Coach of the Dumas Demon football team in 2010. His hobbies included golf and watching college sports. He was a member of Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church. Cecil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Cecil was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Huseman one brother, Vincent Venhaus and one granddaughter, Saige Venhaus. Survivors include his wife Jean of the home one daughter, Deborah Miller and husband Roger of Dumas one son, Tommy Venhaus and wife Jackie of Jackson, Michigan two brothers, Lloyd Venhaus and wife Della of Amarillo and Clyde Venhaus and wife Angie of Canyon three sisters, Bernice Hoelting and husband Dickie, and Irene Huseman and husband Edwin, all of Nazareth, and Joyce Wethington and husband Herbie of Dumas one sisterinlaw, Kay Venhaus of Happy grandchildren, Melissa Miller, Brittany Miller, Lindsey Miller, Sean Venhaus, Chapin Venhaus and Reagan Venhaus greatgrandchildren, Destiny Miller and Treyton Ortega. The family will be at 409 Bennett in Dumas.
