Cecilia Mary Mixon, 72 of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Pastor Mike Nuthman of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo will be officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Cecilia was born on January 11, 1940 in Holyrood, Newfoundland, Canada to Cecil and Veronica Wall. After completing high school, she went on to receive a degree in nursing. She worked as an LVN until her retirement. Cecilia was united in marriage to Jerry Dane Mixon on December 22, 1989 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2009. They shared their life together and raised their family in Amarillo. Cecilia was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo. Cecilia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family. She had a great love for animals, especially her special and beloved pets Sassy Sue, Baby, Missie, Marvin and Zack. She was very talented, and enjoyed crocheting and sewing various projects. She also loved to square dance. Cecilia took her very first motorcycle ride at age 70, and she was immediately hooked. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. In addition to her husband, Jerry, she was preceded in death by her parents two daughters, Denise Burge and Jennifer Burge and three brothers, Francis Wall, Cecil Wall Jr., and Donald Wall. Cecilia is survived by one son, Kristopher Mixon of Amarillo daughter, Cynthia MedeirosMixon of Amarillo special daughter, Shelley Shello Mays of Amarillo two brothers, Leo Wall and wife Mary, and Jerry Wall, both of Canada five grandchildren her special friend, Richard Henry and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, P. O. Box 1014, Amarillo, TX 79105.
