Charles “Allen” Dean, 76 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at First Street Church with Pastor Matt Matzke, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home.
Allen was born on May 13, 1948, in Ducktown, TN to Jesse and Margaret (Payne) Dean. After high school, Allen served his country in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War. Allen would later meet and marry Rose Ham on January 23, 1971, in Seguin, TX. The couple moved to Sunray where they raised their children and eventually to Dumas. He went to work at Diamond Shamrock where he was a mechanic for over 30 years until his retirement. Allen was continually active in the community, serving in the Dumas Noon Lion’s Club, Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion and Moore County Senior Center. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Allen shot an elk in the Texas Panhandle and the mount was proudly displayed at Hoggs BBQ. Allen also loved to draw and was an avid artist. He was of Christian Faith and will be deeply missed by his family and community.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rose.
Allen is survived by his daughters: Sandy Dean and husband Kelly Miller of Winfield, KS and Melissa DeSantiago and husband Jose of Mckinney TX; grandchildren: Cassie Green, Heather Lewter and husband Alan, Darren Green and wife Brittany, Justine Stuart and husband Jake and Lindsay DeSantiago; great grandchildren: Taylor Ireland, Berklei Lewter, Baylei Lewter, Keely Ireland, Hagan Lewter, Bristol Green, Ridley Green, Arden Stuart and Mayer Stuart; brother Carroll Dean and wife Cathy of Sunray, TX; sister: Shirley Ritchie of Creighton, MO. The family suggests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the donor's charity of choice.
