Charles Doyce Cowley

Charles Doyce Cowley, 66, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011. Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Gordon Clark, a family friend, will be officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with a flag detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. The family will have visitation on Friday night from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Morrison Funeral Directors. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Charles was born on August 30, 1944 in Granite, Oklahoma to Alfred Doyce and Mary Francis Cowley. He graduated from SpringlakeEarth high school went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Business from West Texas A M University. He married Paula Elizabeth Anderson on February 17, 1996 in Dumas. Charles served his country is the US Navy from 1969 to 1973. He was employed by Crosbyton Seed Company until his retirement in January 2010. He loved growing seed for thirtyseven years. Charles was very active in the community. He was a great supporter of the Dumas Demonette volleyball team, and served as president of the volleyball booster club for several years. He loved to travel and visit historical sights. He also enjoyed fishing and watching John Wayne movies. Family was very important to Charles. He attended all activities that his children participated in. He loved watching his grandchildren play in various sports and activities. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Cowley Coulter. Charles is survived by his wife Paula of the home his parents, A.D. and Francis Cowley of Hereford two daughters, Kirah and Angela Cowley of Phoenix, AZ and RNae Bontke and husband Jason of Dumas four sons, Kyle Cowley and wife Rachael of Dumas, Dustin Cowley and wife Jennifer of Amarillo, Chris Carlile and wife Jessica of Barr Nunn, WY, and Dusty Carlile and wife Mary of Ft. Lauderdale, FL eleven grandchildren, Faith Bontke, Hannah Cowley, Avery Bontke, Hunter Tate, Connor Cowley, Cameron Carlile, Addison Bontke, Emberley Carlile, Shelby Cowley, Abigale Carlile, and Padin Carlile one brother, Denis Cowley and wife Doris of Perryton brotherinlaw, Jerry Don Coulter of Saginaw, TX numerous nieces and nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews, and loving friends. The family would like to express their special thanks to Dr. Jesus Martinez, Cardiologist at the Amarillo Heart Group, and Dr. Jesus N. Sahad for all of their care and support. The family suggests memorials be to the American Lung Association, National Headquarters, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800. Washington, DC 20004. The family will be at 205 Bennett in Dumas.
