Charles Charlie Purvis, 79, of Dumas, died Monday, July 31, 2006 in Dumas. Services will be Thursday, August 3, 2006, at 2:00 PM in Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Winfred Walker, staff minister at Morrison Funeral Directors, officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. Purvis was born April 23, 1927, in Arley, Texas to Henry Lee and Virginia Mae Purvis. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy and had been a resident of Dumas since 1946. He was employed as a welder. In 1948, he married Nathalee Barley in Dumas and she preceded him in death in 1971.
Survivors include: one son, Michael J. Purvis of Dumas; three daughters, Charlene Richardson of Marquez, TX, Christie Carver-Fryer and Emily Purvis both of Houston; one brother, Smiley Purvis of CA; and five grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to Memorial Hospice, 224 E 2nd St., Dumas, TX 79029.
