Charley Walter Pierson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at First Assembly of God in Dumas. Rev. Damon Akins, pastor of the church will be officiating, assisted by Charleys son, Dale Pierson. Private family interment was held in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
C. W. Walter Pierson was born November 29, 1919 to W.I. and Ella Pierson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Pierson, his parents, and several brothers and sisters. He was born near Petersburg, Texas. Walter was a veteran of World War II. He lived near Petersburg and farmed with his dad and brothers until January 1957. Walter married Lenora Dudley on August 18, 1946. Then in January of 1957, Walter, Lenora, and kids moved to Hereford, Texas, where he was a farmer until he retired in 1985. He and Lenora lived there until 2000 when they moved to Dumas, where he lived until his death.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter Charley and Nova Pierson of Taylorville, TX Billy and Mandy Pierson of Pearland, TX Dale and Grace Pierson of Dumas, TX Esther and Jerry Allen of Dumas, TX and Danny Pierson near College Station. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters Stella Helms of Abernathy and Hulda Pierson of Plainview, three sistersinlaw Bobbie Pierson, Alma Pierson and Jimmie Crabtree, and two brothersinlaw Cliff Crabtree and Hack Harmon. He is leaving behind many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
Walter had a lasting impact on everyone he met, and they were inspired by him. He was a humble, loving and caring man who exuded Jesus in everything he did. He gave his time, money, and himself to anyone in need. He was Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the board at Hereford First Assembly of God for many years. Walter gave to missionaries all over the world. He was a loving husband and father. Walter gave his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren a wonderful and Godly heritage. Walter will be sorely missed, but his legacy will continue on for generations to come
