Christa Garrett

Christa Lavone Garrett, 73 of Dumas passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023.  Christa will be available for viewing at Beeson-Morrison Funeral Home in Dumas from 5 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.   Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas with Reverend Matthew Price officiating.  Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Christa was born on October 11, 1950 in Fort Worth, Texas to Dewey and Estella Barker.   Christa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age.   Christa was a Critical Care and Home Health Registered Nurse for over 40 years, working in Fort Worth, Pampa, Dumas and the US Army Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany.  She loved her poodles.  They were more than pets to her.  They were family.  She pampered them to no end and spared no expense to ensure they were well cared for.  She often said they were not dogs, but poodle persons.  Muffins, Zoe and Lucy will miss their mom greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Christa is survived by her husband David Garrett, her children: John Hall and Jessica Akintunde of Pocahontas, Iowa and her brother-in-law and sister: Bob and Sharon Stembridge of Graham, Texas.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests that memorials be made to Poodle Patch Rescue, 4112 South Kings Hwy, Texarkana, TX 75501.
