Claretta Mae Shaw, 87 of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Hunt Memorial Methodist Church with Pastor Keith Hight officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 oclock until 5 oclock in the evening on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Claretta was born on April 27, 1932 in Vici, OK. She grew up in Vici, graduating from Vici High School and attended Bethany Nazaren College. She married Charles Crouch in 1952 and to this union three children were born; through life transitions, she would eventually marry Lynn Shaw in 1968 in Dumas, TX; he preceded her in death. Claretta worked as a secretary for Thomas & Watson for 14 years. She was a member of the Auxillary Eagles where she served as Madam District President and was also very active in the Moore County Senior Citizens. Claretta played softball until the age of 60, worked crossword puzzles, loved playing bingo, played 42 on Tuesday nights, created many embroidery, beading, and crochet projects for others and was an avid fan of all sports. She was also a member of the Hunt United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: Hazel, Frances, Wilbur, Glenn, Orlin, Verla, Eva and Gerald; great granddaughter: Kayden Elizabeth Teakell; special sister in law: Travis Bowman.
She is survived by her children: Curtis Crouch and wife Patti, Clayton Shaw and wife Cindy and Loretta Rendon and husband Gilbert; surrogate daughter: Karen Batenhorst and husband Jerry; grandchildren: Jamie, Jeremy, Jennifer, Regina, Joshua, Lydia, Dustin, Tammy, Retta and Cody; brother Mervin Bowman; special friends: Colleen Irlbeck, Kathy Savely; numerous other great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends.
