Clifford Ikie Joe Burl Griggs Jr, 66, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in Dumas. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 7, 2009 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rusty Hancock, pastor of the Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Dalhart, officiating. Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 PM in the Gruver Cemetery, Gruver, Texas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Clifford was born January 31, 1943 in Iola, Kansas to Clifford and Elsie Mae Griggs. On October 20, 1962 he married Patsy Winn in Aztec, New Mexico. He was an Army Veteran from 1960 to 1966, and part of his service was in Vietnam. He had been a Gruver resident for 18 years, before moving to Hartley Dalhart for 23 years. They had recently moved to Dumas about a year ago. He worked in cattle feeding all of his life, before retiring from Hartley Feeders in March of 2004. Survivors include; his wife Patsy of the home; 2 sons, Charlie Griggs and wife, Rhonda of Dalhart; Bobby Griggs and wife Sammie of Dumas; 4 daughters, Sherry McCormick and partner Jack Van er of Dalhart; Sandra White and husband Ronnie of Sulphur Springs; Shelly Kelling and husband Alex of Dalhart; Amanda Dorsett and husband Sam of Dalhart; 3 brothers, John Griggs of Dalhart; Calvin Genn of Clayton, New Mexico; Scott Genn of Pueblo, Colorado; sister, Brenda Gallaway of Texline. He had 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to the Don Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, Texas, 79106. The family will be at 1006 N.E. 4th in Dumas.
