Clyde Horton, 84 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church with Roger Stewart, Clyde’s son in law officiating and Pastor Mike Watson assisting. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Clyde was born on October 6, 1937, in Portales, NM to Luther Fate “Dude” and Rene Horton. Clyde grew up in Elida where he graduated from Elida High School. On June 28, 1956, he married his beloved wife Christine Owen in Dumas, TX; she preceded him in death on November 23, 2014. Clyde worked at several different jobs throughout his career including: Dumas City Inspector, Dumas Fire Department, where he served as Chief for 18 months and eventually went to work for West Texas Telephone Company where he worked until retirement.
Clyde was a man of faith and was a proud member of the Gideons International and he helped establish the mission in Cactus, TX. In his spare time, he was a woodworker and loved to camp and fish. Clyde was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and served in many capacities including that of a deacon. Clyde will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter: Kaley Stewart.
Clyde is survived by his daughters: Gwen Stewart and husband Roger of Amarillo, TX, Pam Clark and husband John of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; son: Ken Horton and wife Sammy of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Elijah Stewart, Charity DeBord, Jennifer West, Daniel West, Stacy Parscal, Whitney Horton, Kade Copeland, and Koltan Copeland; great-grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Rylee and Tate DeBord, Michael and Cambri Stewart, Troy and Alayna Svec, Madison Rickle and Austin Parscal.
