Colleen Vermeulen, 56, of Dumas, passed away early Monday morning, June 15, 2020. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. She was a member of Hunt Memorial and Middlewell Methodist Churches in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted with Morrison Funeral Directors.
Colleen was born in Wickliffe, OH on November 11, 1963 to George and Sandra (Boyd) McGonigal. After graduating high school, her love of horses would bring her to Dumas, TX where she made a career of riding pens for Cactus Feeders. Colleen met Kobus Vermeulen and they married on April 21, 2012. They made a trip to his home in South Africa and she thoroughly enjoyed swimming with the sharks. Colleen was a passionate woman who loved her family and her Lord with all her heart. She was an advanced instructor for therapeutic riding and loved helping others. She was an avid fan of anything to do with cowboys or horses and Colleen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a nephew and a brother in law.
Colleen is survived by her husband Kobus of the home; sisters: Kathy Criswell of Buffalo, OK and Pat Fendel of Loveland, CO; nephews: Sean McGonigal and wife Chelsey of Buffalo, OK and Curtis Fendel of Loveland, CO.
