Country Joe McLendon, 61 of Dumas, gained his glory on January 22, 2016. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o' clock in the afternoon on Monday, January 25, 2016 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Damon Akins, pastor of the church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 o' clock in the afternoon on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Joe was born on July 7, 1954 to Howard and Dorothy (Livasy) McLendon in Lockney, TX. He married Wanda Perkins on October 15, 1984. Country Joe was a loving husband and the best daddy ever. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He was a member of First Assembly of God and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Howard 'Ducky' McLendon and one son-in-law: James Deng.
Country Joe is survived by his wife: Wanda of the home; a legacy of five children: Gary McLendon and wife Aarone of Childress, Ernie Marble and wife Shanna of Urich, MO, Tamie Getman and husband Zachery of Oakwood, TX, Michael McLendon and wife Kayla of Abernathy and Jeanie Jo (JJ) McLendon and husband James of the home; he also leaves behind his pride and joys, eight grandchildren: Dion, Nicholas, Susanah, Adam, Rachel, Jonathan, Alex and Asher; one sister: Nita Stambaugh of Louisiana; one brother: James McLendon of Petrolia, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
