Cruz Martinez Perez, 77, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012. The Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church in Dumas. Fr. Arockiaraj Malapady of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Pampa will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Cruz was born on May 3, 1935 in Santa Maria del Oro, Durango, Mexico to Tomas and Porfiria Perez Martinez. He was united in marriage to Rafaela Faudoa de Martinez on February 18, 1961 in Ceballos, Durango, Mexico. Cruz worked as a farmer and raised cattle. He had been a resident of Dumas for thirtysix years and was a member of Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church. Cruz was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved his family deeply. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved gardening and raising fruit trees. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Porfiria Martinez two daughters, Oralia Martinez and Maria Elena Martinez one son, Jose Cruz Martinez one sister, Anastacia Martinez and one brother, Jose Martinez. Cruz leaves behind his wife, Rafaela Faudoa de Martinez of the home four daughters, Connie Schermerhorn and husband Don of Dodge City, KS, Lili Jimenez and husband Cruz of Dumas, Mari Castaneda and husband Oscar of Tyler, TX, and Guadalupe Montoya and husband Ruben of Garden City, KS two sons, Ignacio Martinez of San Antonio, TX, and Nicolas Martinez of Alice, TX four sisters, Josefina Pepa Martinez, Hermelinda Prieta Martinez, Rita Martinez, and Rosa Martinez two brothers, Lazaro Polo Martinez and Emilio Martinez twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church, P. O. Box 503, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 10842 McClary Road in Dumas.
