Dave Burnett

Dave Burnett, 64, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011. Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Dumas. Dr. Howard Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Amarillo will be officiating, assisted by Jacy Dickens of Greeley, Colorado. Private family interment will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Dave was born on August 25, 1946 in Dumas to George and Maggie Byrd Burnett. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1964, and attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Dave married Cathy Elaine Griffin on October 7, 1977 in Dumas, where they shared their life together. Dave was a farmer and rancher in Moore County. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Dave was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Dave was a caring and kind man and will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maggie Burnett. Dave is survived by his wife, Cathy of the home one son, Rance Burnett and wife Lacie of Amarillo one daughter, Mary Lynn Burnett of Amarillo one stepdaughter, Cassie Coen and husband Troy of Elkhart, Kansas and six grandchildren, Brooklyn and Lauren Burnett, Marcus and Dawson Navarro, and Taylor and Cody Coen. The family suggests memorials be to Middlewell Methodist Church, 5895 County Road W, Channing, TX 79018 The Refuge, 1009 S. Maddox Ave., Dumas, TX 79029 Mag Charlotte Memorial Golf Tournament, The Pheasant Trail Ladies Golf Assoc., 1109 Bennett, Dumas, TX 79029 or to a favorite charity.
