David Lee Sims, 72, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 in Dumas. Services will be held at 2:00PM, in Ninth and Bliss Church of Christ on Tuesday, February 9, with Brett Hogland, longtime family friend officiating. Burial will follow in Hartley Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
David Lee Sims was born November 3, 1937 in Dalhart, Texas to Miles and Edith Sims. On April 24, 1958 he married Delores Lovinggood in Pampa, Texas. He was a roustabout for Maxus over 25 years before retiring in 1996. He loved camping, fishing and Texas Tech sports, especially basketball and football. Mr. Sims had been a resident of Dumas and the panhandle area all of his life and was a member of Ninth and Bliss Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, June and Brub.
Survivors include his wife, Delores of the home daughters, Denise Cummins and husband, Terry of Dumas, Donna Christie and husband, Irl of Amarillo, and Desiree Sims of Dumas sisters, Gwendolyn Lockhart of Dalhart, Faye Williams of Hartley, Nora Reed and husband, Lester of Sunray, Betty Yeager and husband, Howard of Fritch, Judy CosperKirk and husband, Harold of Odessa brother, Ray Sims and wife, Beulah of Amarillo grandchildren, Cale Christie, Will Cummins and fiance, Meagan Morales, Brian Cummins, David Woods, KayLyn Vines many nieces and nephews and his constant companions, Repo and Honey.
The family suggest memorial be to Memorial Nursing and Rehab, 302 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at 1000 Mills in Dumas.
