Dolly June Sweet Burns, 81 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 with her family by her side. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Temple Baptist Church in Dumas with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Dolly was born on June 9, 1931 in La Junta, Colorado to C.R. and Evelyn Conner Jones. She was a graduate of Lamar High School in Lamar, Colorado. Dolly was united in marriage to Fred Sweet on October 15, 1947 in Raton, New Mexico. They shared their lives together for over forty years, until his passing in 1994. Dolly had been a resident of Dumas for forty years. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Dolly was a devoted homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was actively involved in her church and the Moore County Senior Center. Dolly was a wonderful cook, and she served as a Lions Club cook for over twenty years. She had a sweet and loving disposition, and always had a warm smile for everyone she met. Dolly will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred Sweet, her sister, Amanda Parker, and two brothers, Charles Jones and Ted Jones.
Dolly leaves behind three daughters, Phyllis Kelley and husband John of Scammon, Kansas, Terry DeArmond and husband Bo of Dumas, and DeDe Young and husband H. D. of Dill City, Oklahoma one son, Fred Sweet and wife Scotti of Dumas, one brother, Don Jackson and wife Rhonda of Las Animas, Colorado nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several other extended family members.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
